Damn Trump done put the nail in the coffin. Yeah Spirit was probably doomed either way, but their financial projections were based on an average fuel price in the low $2’s. Shit spiked to the mid $4’s and their creditors were like aight, we out.

I don't think Spirit going out of business will lead to increased travel costs. That said we are going to see increased travel costs for the very reason that Spirit went out of business.

Ya'll think so? I really don't think that's true. I could be wrong, but we'll see. Spirit is like the fast food of airlines. They are competing with Frontier, Jet Blue, Southwest, etc... Delta, American, United are like fine dining establishments. They don't set their prices based on what's going on in the Fast Food world.

IDK man, now the hook is the lower price of the base ticket. They made up the rest in baggage fees but you would still probably come out cheaper than the base ticket price with the other airlines that also have additional baggage fees

Spirit was probably also good for people who didn't mind layovers as those direct flights do be taxing.

I'm not saying that Spirit didn't serve it's purpose. I'm just saying that the bigger airlines have their clientele. Most of those people choose those airlines for a reason. It wouldn't make sense for Delta to jack up the prices for its customers based on something that happened with an airline that its customers don't even use.

it makes perfect sense cause you either gonna fly with us or one of the other big airlines that they are in direct competition with because where else are you gonna go.

To your point though, I have flown Spirit maybe 2x and Frontier once and i just dont like how their planes feel in the air or the clientele that frequent them, but with spirit gone, those patrons will choose another airline they previously wouldnt have

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not. Delta competes with United and American. If Delta's prices are too high, I got to American or United not Spirit. Spirit being gone doesn't change anything, so those airlines have no incentive to change their prices. It seems we're saying the same thing.

Nah it’s true. If an airport has a budget airline the price of the bigger airlines is lower.

I know this from first hand experience. I was looking to book a flight from RDU to ATL, which Frontier services as a non-stop flight.

Frontier apparently doesn’t have flights available as far out as Delta. For the dates where Frontier did have a flight available, Delta’s ticket was cheaper. When there wasn’t a Frontier flight, it was higher. And I’m talking a 1 day difference 3 months out.

The Delta flight still wasn’t Frontier cheap, but it was cheaper than usual.
