So I've Been Listening To The Last Poets Lately

I can't understand it.

I tried to create some dialogue about The Last Poets on the IC and again here.

People swear up and down that they listen to Marvin Gaye, James Brown, P-Funk, Earth Wind & Fire, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Barry White, etc. If you ask their favorite albums they'll tell you Miles Davis or John Coltrane.

And they swear up and down that 2Pac is The Goat because he was socially conscious and his subject matter ranged from I Get Around to Keep Your Head Up...to Hit Em Up.

But The Last Poets have a full discography, not just one or two albums. They have 5 legitimate albums in the 70s when they were in their prime plus a couple of side projects and albums by former members. I mean, their discography is thick enough to have a lengthy discussion about their evolution from their first self titled album to At Last, to Hustler's Convention.

They made two albums in the 80s, three albums in the 90s and another album in 2018.

I don't know how you guys could spend all this time on a Hip Hop message board and have nothing to say about The Last Poets.

Does anybody have anything, positive or negative, to say about The Last Poets and their discography?
