I think because it was bullshit.

I coulda swore it came out that she was out there flingin' her fists at Nas too.
If the shit was false she should've been villified like they do to niggaz but she gotta vagina so that's that.
Nas put out and open letter type response. I'm not sure how much of it people believed, but it probably put enough doubt in the minds of some that they slowed down on jumping on the Kelis bandwagon.

Kelis has done a number of things in rencent memory that has shaken the foundation of her credibility.
And it seems that everytime she hears the word "no" we wind up learning somethhing new from their very short time together, all these gotdamn years later.
If anything fellas should be looking at the Nas / Kelis tale as a lesson.
A lesson in how being a self defeated pushover can lead to other people walking all over you.
Kelis is the walking equivalent to that Karen meme white men always use.
