People do what their culture and environment dictate.
Most people don't have the awareness and autonomy to do anything different.
That's what living in a society, having a culture is.
It's constraints to prevent individuality that ruptures the chains of belonging.
Human beings are social beings that can't survive on our own. We need human interaction, we need a novel environment, we need acceptance from others, it takes a lot to maintain a human being.
Therefore we are never allowed to be individuals. All of us are an extension of someone else, we extensions of the institutional forces we aren't even aware of.
People only do what they are allowed to do by their society, culture and environment. There's no breaking away from that.
