OPINION Should people be paid more or are Americans just lazy?

Do hire wages really make everything cost more? We all know the SNAP/Food Stamp thing is driving people crazy and we know the best way to not have to worry about that is to make more money. But we all know the cost of living nowadays is too high unless you live in like Montana or something.

I’ve seen reports that minimum wage should really be $25 an hour. But I see people go against that saying it just being everything else up. I personally think all this greed could be regulated better. I def feel like Jeff Bezos could pay employees more. But how would that work for a smaller company?

A lot of people say go back to school or learn a trade to earn more. Which still costs money.

Ideally it would be nice if one income was enough to hold down a three bedroom house.

What y’all think?

People should not have to work multiple jobs to to make ends meet. If somebody is working 40+ hours a week there should be no reason their rent, groceries, electricity, water, internet shouldnt be covered along with them having the ability to save a bit as well.

I dont want to hear shit about paying people a liveable wage not being realistic because it would raise costs.. newsflash these muhfcukas are raising the cost of things anyway just to line their pockets. We arent even getting better products out of the shit.

Theyre finding more and more ways to make shit for less by using shittier(cheaper) ingredients, automating so they dont have to pay people, giving us less product(shrinkflation) etc.

People arent lazy. Corporations and companies are just greedy

We can close the thread right here

The thing is, companies are making more profit than ever.

If we were in a situation we're companies weren't making profit, then we could talk about alternatives.

The issue though is that a company making 40 billion in profit isn't enough cause the stock market dictated that company has to make 41 billion next year or the stocks take a hit.

To me a company making billions a year should be good enough. But that's not the case cause earnings per share has to go up ever quarter.

That puts us in a situation where companies won't give raises even though they're making record profits cause they are in a system that expects them to make more profit every quarter or it's a failed quarter.

And the easiest way to achieve this is to raise prices but keep expenses the same, and unfortunately, peoples salaries are the biggest expense, so we don't get raises.

We really in the late stages of capitalism and its really eating itself now and eventually it will burst.

Business needs profits. Raising the wage increasing labor costs

We see now with some businesses increasing the cost of products simply because of tariffs

I know a lot on here hate capitalism

higher wages exacerbates and compounds the issue/problem of an indulgence where wealth eats itself as well as the society it devours and flourishes in.
wealth coupled with the cloak of corporation has opened up a pandoras box of zombie-like buyers and investors who unconsciously lead society into embracing and normalizing monopoly. your little $100k house handed down through your family can be approached by wealthy entities and offer your family $300k for the home then sell it for $6-$7-$800k which in turn, by the whim of wealth driving, forcibly increases the values of all other properties within its vicinity. this is a problem i see that siphons from the pursuit of financial stability of others. it's the bottom and the top problem.
in order for another family coming into homeownership or even to rent, in order for that rent or mortgage to be paid, they're looking for the proper wage to facilitate those payments in the attempt to further enjoy a comfort in their livelihood. problem is, wealth is always updating its overfeeding habits, mostly without societies knowledge.
so what i'm saying is ...that little hamburger joint that has the best burgers will eventually perish because when its supply costs go up, it's looking for cheaper ways to operate which usually sacrifices the quality of the burgers as well as its reputation. this is a domino effect where the manipulated property value of this burger joint, when it rises in its lease along with the operation costs, it begins cutting employee hours as well as cutting down on employees and increasing remaining employee duties. the employees that are left are soon pressured by their own rising rents at home and request a wage increase. it becomes a hamster wheel, checkerboard game of one black checker running away from a board game full of red crowned kings. all your doing is running away till all your potential moves are exhausted or stalemated (chess move).

maintaining wealth is a monster that doesn't understand the other beings that exist with it and when nothing's left to devour, it will destroy itself out of loneliness.

socialism they say is bad, but capitalism has proven no better, because there is no limits or restriction. the humanity we think we know, has to move into a direction of societal equalization. it's just that the hard part is getting wealth to decrease it's manipulated asset values. education likes to insist that economics, supply & demand is all there is to this, when it's only encouraged dubious behavior all around from shoplifting an apple jolly rancher to skimming trillions of dollars, friends abandoning and cheating each other behind desperation acts of the highest order.

Businesses were raising the costs of products when tariffs were announced, even before they went into place.

I dont know if alot on here here hate capitalism.. perhaps they hate the greed that comes along with capitalism to where its profits over people no matter what

I've said this in every min wage thread since the IC

but it's obvious people in America don't really want to solve this problem

1) there shouldn't be anyone with more than $1B.....once u hit a billy any money at that point should be diverted somewhere that helps the public

2) and the most important factor is the CEO pay gap between them and their workers

the way u fix this is by making it a law that a public CEO can only get paid by a limiting ratio of their own pay to the lowest paid worker in the company

an example could be a ratio of 1:10......if u want to pay a CEO $1M, then ur lowest paid employee must be paid at least $100K

this would limit crazy CEO pay and it would also make sure that if the leadership gets a raise off of collective employees' work, then the employees would automatically get a raise as well

but American citizens are too stupid and selfish to vote for something like that 🙁

Do you just expect businesses to work with a net zero profit so they can increase wages?

Nope. Businesses should make profits.

But like it's been said in here already.. if the business is making record profits and the people working for said business cant even meet their basic needs to survive.. thats a problem

So you have a limit on how much a business can make?

Mike, why does Jeff bezos need x billions of dollars when he's so far removed from the day to day shit that got him the money in the first place

The workers are the ones guaranteeing shit gets delivered in two days, not him

Pay them people
I need to start ignoring these threads because people on here get too sensitive with their hate of the rich
