im not sure about "preventing" anything

but they do several tests during pregnancy that can forewarn you about a lot of deformities or issues

some people choose to abort at that point when they find out

as ya'll know, depending on the health coverage and hospital, some of these tests never happen

Right now they can choose hair and eye color pre birth. But yeah they are working on trying to prevent deformities and diseases pre birth.
