Official: Woman Shot Boyfriend at YouTube HQ
A federal law enforcement official told The Daily Beast that a woman shot her boyfriend at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California on Tuesday. The assailant is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, San Bruno police chief Ed Barberini told reporters. Four people were transported to hospitals for “gunshot related injuries,” Barberini said. More than 1,000 workers are on the YouTube campus, according to parent company Google.
GOP Rep. Rohrabacher Speculates YouTube Shooter ‘Could Be’ an Illegal Immigrant
Congressman Dana Rohrabacher wildly speculated on-air this afternoon about a possible link between the shooting at YouTube HQ and illegal immigration.
In a segment first flagged by ThinkProgress, the congressman was on to talk about sanctuary cities, and he opened the segment on the shooting by saying this:
“You were going to discuss with me sanctuary cities and the sanctuary state movement, and it fits right into what you’re talking about right now. Would anyone be surprised? We have a state government in California that’s trying to prevent our law enforcement people from working with the federal law enforcement people to get together the criminal illegal aliens… Would anyone right now listening to you think, ‘Well, this certainly wouldn’t be an illegal immigrant there.’ Well, it could be. Everybody knows that it could be.”
Rohrabacher went on to talk about the need to control the border and to “emphasize that any illegal in this state should be sent back, whether he’s a criminal or not, but especially criminals.”
Minutes later, he again emphasized that “it would surprise no one” if the shooter turned out to be “someone who was here illegally.”
So far there are few concrete details about the shooter. The suspect is a female and was found dead at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
