Serious question about tip etiquette concerning taxi cabs

Fuuuuck tipping the CAB cabs here...
Those mfs CAN NOT drive, take the long way to get to shit, and lets you say you're tryna pay with a card, that's damn near a fight.
Uber/lyft all the way

and thats the biggest problem with the perception of the business

lame individuals doing shit that makes a bad name for the whole company

the few times I drove I had people immediately accuse me of trying to run the meter up......I gave em all breaks on the fare but I literally just didnt know the shortest route every time off the top of my head.....takes a long time to get to that

there's lawsuits w/ the city right now between cab companies and uber/lyft.....the biggest problem is that uber/lyft drivers dont need any special licensing or insurance, no maintenance records, no inspections, etc

cab companies have to do all of that and are constantly hassled by the police departments about it....theres all kinda recurring fees and permits in place that uber drivers bypass

lawsuits aint going nowhere but it shows the difference between the types of services.....a cab company is fully responsible for you and anything that happens while you're in a cab....we've had riders sue for "injuries" after the driver bumped a curb, we've had a father sue the company because his under age kid caught a cab to run away, etc.....good luck w/ uber for any of that kinda shit

shits just crazy.....a whole industry is being undercut...the thing that keeps cabs going here is familiarity

older people, less tech savvy people, out of habit people, cash people, etc.....in a city like mine, there's still lots of people who dont fuck with smartphone apps and debit cards or just jumping in strangers cars.....most of the old people going to work and the laundy mat and grocery store have their favorite cab drivers that they call on their cell phones...these guys actually get out the car and help them with their shit

My bad, I forgot about this thread.....that was more like what if hypothetical question.....the company i use is actually great....I was just asking about the tipping thing cause i'm having to use them more and more often so I can't just tip like that everytime...

Regular cab? Not getting no gaddamn tip from me. However, my Uber drivers? Yeah. At least the majority. I always end up with a cool ass Uber driver with a clean ass car that smells good.

Respect, I really was just being hypothetical, like I said....the company has always been cool, just new to having to rely on them like this often

I am just ignorant really, is it like picking up the phone and calling simple?

Nah, man I like the idea of being able to pull out my phone..enter the addy and I can watch where the driver is. I can also message within the app what I have on and I can see how they look and the car they drive as well as their overall rating. Shit I have almost a 5 star rating on my Uber lmao. They can rate us as well.

Plus like I get my nails done in a whole different borough. A regular cab is $65, I pay less than $40 most of the time with Uber.

No mf!
When you send for an Uber, it’ll show you where they are on the map and an estimated time frame that they’ll arrive to you. I don’t send for them until I’m ready to walk out the door.
