I'm not saying I know....but from what I had heard

Depends on the state. It's completely legal in all 50 states to record video inside your home without telling someone they're being recorded, but video and audio is a different matter. When audio is involved, it falls under wiretapping laws and if you live in a state where two-party consent is required (there's only 12) then you gotta get their consent BUT you can likely get around that by posting a sign that warns people of recording going on and states that by entering the premises that you consent to recording.
