New York fell off and the East ain't have the throne since 2006.

The South and the West rule Hip Hop right now. And this will taste like sardines to ya but J. Cole (south), Kendrick Lamar (West) and Drake (North) run Hip Hop and are the triumvirate.

The problem with your premise is that Hip Hop was better in the 80s and 90s when New York was the Mecca for Hip Hop.

I hit you with positive rep, but the East lost the throne way before 2006 tho.

Back in the day most people that lived outside the East Coast were checkin for NWA, DOC, Too Short, E-40, No Limit, OutKast, 2Live Crew, UGK, Bone, 2Pac, etc.... over East Coast artists.

Because of East Cost advantages with the media and the vast amount of East Coast people participating in message boards, the truth has been buried.

People always have been listening to other artists beyond New York City ... But the NYC was the Gold Standard for Hip Hop until 2006 this why Nas came out with Hip Hop is Dead album in 2006 and all other regions rapper like Jeezy and other coasts got mad at Nas because he was telling the bitter truth and New York City place in Hip Hop as the Mecca
