Niggas just be saying shit nowadays. Mike literally turned games around with key defensive stops. He's top 3 all time in steals and has more blocks than any other guard.
That said, Mike was a gambler on defense. He always went for big plays. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. So it is true that he would sometimes make the wrong call and get smoked. Pippen was probably the better shutdown defender, but that didn't always turn into turnovers. So depending on what style of defense you prefer, I could see why some might put other defenders over Mike. To say he wasn't that good compared to other defenders of the day though...
That's a good video discussing Mike's defense. It's crazy how today you'll get more intelligent analysis on sports from randos on the net than you do from actual players or journalists.

Even if you agree with Sheed or not, you gotta understand the offensive load MJ had to carry along with playing great defense night after night. There might be better lock down defenders but they don’t have to use as much energy as MJ did on offense. Imo this is what separates him from most.

That clip is an incomplete portion of what he said. When you listen to it all, it becomes clear that he 1) believes big men/post players are the true great defenders and 2) is saying what he's saying to discredit MJ's claim as the GOAT (Sheed thinks Kareem is the GOAT).
