Russia is too busy fighting Ukraine.
Iran and their proxies got really hurt by Israel.
Assad and the group hes fighting now have had a cease fire for 3-4 years which let them build their strength and waited for the right time to attack, which is now.
The issue is that this group called HTS is a combo of a ton of other groups and as soon as they take Assad down, they'll start fighting each other.
The other issue is Turkey's influence in all this. At some point Turkey is gonna have these groups go after the Kurdish areas too.
The question to ask also is why now? Turkey is supporting these groups but why attack now? Cause this pisses off Russia and America. It makes me wonder if Trump let Erdogan know through some back channels that hes ok with it, or maybe Erdogan just feels Trump will let him get away with it.
