Putin says rap is ‘drug propaganda’; should be controlled in Russia

Putin noted that “rap is based on three pillars: sex, drugs and protest.” But he is particularly concerned with drug themes prevalent in rap, saying “this is a path to the degradation of the nation.”

All the mafia and political corruption ,crime, and poverty going on in Russia, and this motherfucker concerned with rap music? HAHA
this is laughable.

Not if you understand Soviet history. After the October revoltuon, there was a strong desire from the state to control all of the "sins" like drinking, gambling, etc. to make people better citizens.


This is a famous propaganda poster from Russia about not drinking. Even though Russia has a lot of alcoholism, the state has consistently tried to get the population to stop drinking. Clearly the propaganda is not working. Drugs are just another one of those things that the state tries to control and stop.
