It's derived from, not a 1:1 translation. I get where you are coming from but the pronunciation is entirely different so I guess I was still a little thrown off. Like I then figured you meant "Caesar" (the way everyone in the English-speaking world pronounces it when referring to Julius Caesar) with C-Zar. Caesar, in Latin, is pronounced similar to Kaiser in German. Czar in Slavic (Bulgarian origins, I believe) is pronounced "sar" with some funkiness on the "s".
