What are your thoughts on organ donation? Would you do it?
  • 22 people die every day while waiting for a transplant
  • One organ donor can save 8 lives and change the lives of more than 50 people.
  • Almost anyone can be an organ donor, regardless of age or medical history.
  • All major religions in the U.S. support organ donation.

do u have a bad reason or a so-so reason why?
I was raised Muslim and a lot of that still effects my decision making. In Islam you can only donate the organs you could have lived without

I just don't like the idea of being cut up and distributed when I die. It's for very selfish reasons

Black donors are the highest percent deceased.

I feel like we are a target. It's not 100% of a race thing because all races are on the waiting list. However, being an organ donor and being black, I feel like they'd let me pass and donate my organs to the next person.

Pass. Doctors let you die if you are an organ donor.

this is my fear too. I'd be on the register if I cld get this suspicion out of my mind.

the problem is tho, ethnicity can help with matches sometimes. as a result, black ppl on waiting lists end up waiting yrs longer. double edged sword.

No, it is a race thing as we have melanin especially our darker brothers and sisters which can withstand and feed off sunlight. Whites get skin cancer and shit hence sun screen for them. Kids get pulled off the street and adults for black markets for our organs. White people are having the WoAT birth rates right now so they're scrambling.

but what about the black people stuck on organ donation waiting lists for yrs n struggling to find matches because few of us are registered?

I meant as far as who they give their organs too. All black organs aren't going specifically to white people. However, blacks organs are the first to get donated. Seeing that we are the highest percent on the donor deceased list.

From what I understand, ethnicity plays a role in organ matches. There are more black people on the waiting list than there are black donors.

I may be way off but that cld be why black organs are the 1st to get donated?

A girl I went to school with just passed. She was on the waiting list for years to get a kidney transplant, she received it from a black person. Her body rejected it though.

yeah, I didn't know until recently that organ donation recipients have to take medication for the rest of their lives. doesn't just seamlessly adjust to your body like I'd imagined.

rip to ur classmate

Blacks seem to have more health problems than other races too. I read that somewhere.
I believe that's one reason why so many of us are on that list. However, who would want to be an organ donor when you go to the hospital for something minor and they just let you die. I'm losing my trust in a lot of this medical shit.

I've always wanted to know if there are stats on this. It's a legit fear of mine but I'm not sure how rational it is.
