OnlyFans Steering Away From Adult Content?

The online platform, which charges users a subscription to view pictures and videos of celebrities, influencers, and adult-film stars, was teaming up with an advisor to bolster interest from investors, one of the sources told Bloomberg. The source wanted to remain anonymous because the talks were private.

The source also said the advisor was helping OnlyFans become a more mainstream online media site, and that it hoped to move away from its reputation for adult content.

OnlyFans wants to turn into a platform where celebrities and athletes can connect with fans, according to the sources.


OnlyFans boomed during the pandemic— the number of users jumped to 120 million, from 20 million before coronavirus struck, and users spent $2.4 billion on the site in 2020. People joined the website as a way to earn money after losing their jobs in COVID-19 layoffs.

"Athletes are a creator genre we're seeing a lot of growth in," OnlyFans founder and CEO Tim Stokely said in a press release June 5, when Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. joined the site.

The subscription website also aims to pull in more advertisers as it goes more mainstream, the sources said.

A representative for OnlyFans declined to comment to Bloomberg.

Instead of depending on these types of platforms, can't sex workers make their own website & host their content on there? Some of the biggest sex workers have a huge fanbase.. make your own website & you won't have to rely on platforms like Manyvids, Onlyfans, etc.

They dont know shit about web design so the sites will look like shit and possibly wont work.
They dont know about media storage and distribution, don't know how to handle digital transactions without cashapp so its easier to have social platforms handle this for them.

A lot of them probably don't know how to make their own site. They'll probably just go back to a web cam site. That's been around for decades

Everyone have to start somewhere, better now than never. Have something of your own so when something like this happens, you have something of your own to fall back on.
 
I think twitter with their new super follow service will capture some market share considering most of the onlyfans models us twitter and ig to market their content. the problem for them however is a higher pay cut >%30.

Same thing would happen, it's a reason why sites like Manyvids, Camsoda, MFC, etc is still popular. Celebrities won't try and build with those types of sites. OnlyFans is easy to use despite their technical difficulties once in a while but they recently been in the news regarding underage girls using fake IDs to create a account, etc.

It's funny, you'll see OF chicks promo each other on twitter all the time but you'll never see them share this knowledge. Some do know how to properly take their resources and branch out to personal sites giving them longevity, but they sure as hell not sharing that info. Even if they do, most of the shortsighted girls don't want to hear how or wont take the time to understand it.
