Old Man Can Presents... "Looking back at it" thread

The reliance on the three didn’t become a thing until Steph came around. Some people emulated him, others realized that statistically you have a better shot of winning by shooting a lot more threes.

I could be wrong, but I’ve seen similar takes from other people as well.

It started slightly before that. I remember Chris Bosh saying that when Shane Battier was on the Heat with him he's the one who convinced him to just take a couple steps back and start taking more 3s instead of long 2s. Steph made it explode, but that 3 point increase was already in the works before that 2015 Warriors team broke the damn open.

I was talking to one of my old school crew about hip hop in the 90's vs now a couple of weeks ago. He mentioned that he's starting to see where C. Delores Tucker and Rev Calvin Butts was coming from, almost to the point of agreeing with them. The way I see it, this was our music, shit that my generation created, and because of that we were overly protective of it. And maybe we overlooked some things about it, but aside from the "gangsta rap/nyc crime" joints, there was a net positive to it. We went back and forth over it but ultimately I can see what they were saying as well, especially nowadays.

Looking back on it, Steph killed the NBA.

And I don’t blame Steph, I blame the copycats.

Gilbert Arenas was shooting deep 3's,

Was Steph shooting like this under Mark Jackson? Don Nelly and Danitony (fucked their name up) had a style of hosting up 3's I just think niggas who weren't shooters started stinking up the game.

James Harden was doing the same thing as Steph.

Thread title sounds very raunchy.

“Looking back at it”.

Looking back at it .......Ja Rule was and is a better artist, father and role model than 50. Truth be told if it wasn't our community's major flaw of hating on the ones who look like us. Ja and 50 should've been able to flourish in the same space fickle fans and systematically tearing down of the Black Man and Woman in our music culture got us here.

50's a way better actor tho and maybe a business man.

Argue amongst yourselves

My contention is that they accused Hip Hop back then of what it's become now. I look at it like alcohol. In the 90s, rap was like a 50-80 proof liquor. It had some shit that was bad for you, but it was kinda balanced out and you'd be fine drinking it. Nowadays Hip Hop is like some 180 proof shit. If you taking that shit straight, you're basically trying to do yourself harm.

I've always been on the side of Ja music not only aging better overall but Ja being a victim of Eminem stans more than 50 Cent fans. 50 literally took Ja style with songs like 21 Questions and Candy Shop and did it not as good.

Looking back at it ....10 Crack Commandments was and will always be a top tier song and I know the song word for word. There's one verse in the song really doesn't make sense if you think about it.

"Number nine shoulda been number one to me
If you ain't gettin' bagged, stay the fuck from police
If niggas think you snitchin' they ain't tryna listen
They be sittin' in your kitchen, waiting to start hittin'"

You wrote the list bro you could've made number 9 #1

:hahaha:
