Compared to him coming in? Yeah

but fine we can say “underachiever”
U could say he was a bust/underachiever in College (bcos he was the number 1 recruit on alot of boards), but his limitations were well known coming into the NBA. Not many were expecting him to be a star if they were paying attention.

He went 10th in a very weak draft and not many drafted after him have had better careers.

Did anybody expect him to be an 7th or 8th man on multiple teams when they drafted him 10th? Did the pelicans draft rivers thinking he wasn’t gonna be there in a few years?

Did pundits think the son of a NBA Coach and player was gonna average less than 10ppg in his career and that’s after 1 blistering season averaging 15ppg playing for his dad?

Fuck this shoulda been a thread lol

The 10th pick having a damn near a 10 career and being a good role player on some good teams.....most GM's would take that anyday

Austin didn't really start to come on until he got to the Clippers and even then it took him a little bit but he eventually developed into a really good role player

Most GMs would take a role player with a lotto pick that is only good enough to be used in a four team trade that brings back Quincy pondexter?

They would draft rivers every time huh?

“Rivers hasn't grown much in his first three years in the league. The 6'4 guard out of Duke was taken 10th overall in the 2012 draft, but never found his groove in New Orleans. He has struggled shooting the ball during the 2014-15 season, especially from deep, where he's hit just 28 percent from behind the three-point line. He's averaging 6.9 points and 2.3 assists in 21.4 minutes per game.”

:wtf11:
