Official 2019-2020 NBA Thread

If the team is ok with him not playing and are down to pay him even without him playing, why is the nba even getting involved? I get the fact that if you pay him, other players might want the same, but once it gets to this point, just let the player and team take care of it.

The rules are the rules.

This is why people hate bureaucracy

If the NBPA and league agreed on the terms then that is what each team has to do. If each team goes and does different things to circumvent the terms agreed upon that is illegal.

He shouldn't have came out and publicly said he was healthy, I think it's pretty clear cut why he shouldn't get paid. Lol. Nothing personal just policy

Nah, pay that mfer.

There are always situations where a player that is injured is ready to go with like a month left in the season but the team decides to keep him out until next season and still pay him.

Thats all this is. thats why this situation is a bit different than a player just opting out of player.

The man said he was HEALTHY but sitting out to ensure recovery for an injury he said is HEALTHY. Lol. Sometimes less is more........ Victor didn't (and shouldn't) have to post anything to social media about his injury but he did and now it's looking like it may cost him money.

I understand why he most likely wants to back out of playing down there with the COVID numbers skyrocketing and thinking that it isn't the safest environment. Or he could be actually sitting out due to really ensuring his injury is fully healed like he stated but the thing that screwed him was telling the world that he was healthy. If the Pacers and Oladipo are smart they will just say he has some type of deep tissue bruise or another injury hard to prove that can keep him shut down. Lol.

The NBA has to enforce the rules themselves and the NBAPA agreed upon because if they don't then others will try and circumvent the rules also

When the NBA resumes on July 30, there will be millions of dollars on the line for the 2020 free agents taking the court.

More than 150 players participating in the NBA restart are on track to hit free agency in October, and one misstep could prove costly for a player looking for a new deal. Last month, Washington Wizards forward Davis Bertan opted out of playing in the bubble so he could maximize his earning potential and avoid risking injury.

And it's not just the players hitting free agency this fall who are worried. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported in June that several top stars from the 2017 draft class who will be extension-eligible this fall, such as Boston Celtics wing Jayson Tatum and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell, talked to the National Basketball Players Association about possible insurance allowances.

But for most players -- like New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram -- participating in Orlando is a risk they are willing to take. Here's a look at what's at stake, the decision-making process for players and teams and the 10 most interesting free agents to watch in Orlando.

Melo could own NY. They are made for each other.
Nah, Lavar is made for NY. The Ball boys just want to hoop. While he has the most potential in this draft, his game right now is very shaky. He does not need that NY pressure right now. I hope he ends up in Detroit or Minnesota. Less pressure and he can take time to iron out the flaws in his game.
