What a monster run on the margins for the Heat: Josh Richardson in the second round -- a very good player who netted Miami a great one in Jimmy Butler; Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo at the back of the lottery; Duncan Robinson, Derrick Jones Jr. and Chris Silva on two-way deals; and now Nunn, plucked from the G-League at the end of last season -- and leading the Heat in scoring.

This is what it takes to craft a sunny future, despite coughing up three future first-round picks in get-rich-now trades

The Heat are no longer in peril. They are good now, lurking anew as a free-agent destination.

With Nunn and Herro as rotation mainstays -- plus more minutes than expected for Meyers Leonard -- the Heat have more shooting and versatility than even they anticipated. Goran Dragic looks reinvigorated in a reserve role. Even if Waiters never steps on the floor again for Miami, the Heat have enough perimeter talent to play heavy minutes with Justise Winslow as a point-power forward -- a look they haven't had to explore much yet.

If they stay healthy, the Heat should stick in the race for the No. 3 or No. 4 spot in the East.

Several teams are kicking themselves about Nunn -- not only the Warriors, who waived him out of camp a year ago and had him in the G-League. Others brought Nunn in for group workouts and chose other (worse) players, or tried to entice him with promises of a training camp deal this season. Miami went another route -- a multiyear, nonguaranteed minimum -- and snagged him.

I hate the Pelicans announcers man. They so dick riderish. Yall could talk about the game without dick riding who ever got the ball man.

Idk about that Dirk take at all. Luka got work but just to put it in perspective Dirk the only white boy with 30k+ points.

He got a long way before he see Dirk

Potential.

You comparing Dirk after he’s retired to a 2nd year player.

It would be more appropriate to compare Dirk as a rookie and in his second year to Luka‘a performance last year and what he is doing this season.

Looking at their numbers and respective impact in that context tells a different story than the one you are asserting.

Comparing Luka’s potential to be what Dirk currently is not out of the question in my opinion.

And before that a 2nd year player was compared to a 1st ballot HOFer.

But ehhh I get all that even though it's really comparing apples to oranges with the game evolving the way it has.
Dirk was never asked to handle the rock or distribute the way Luka has.

And You're right, It's not out of the question which is why I said he has a long way to go. He's trending upward and if all things remain constant he should be better than Dirk but today I ain't saying he's the nicest white boy since Bird.

Really? Compared to the announcers on other teams, they are middle of the pack to me when it comes to their homerism.

Its the issue with small market teams in all sports. Im not saying the Pelicans announcers are as bad as lets say the Cavs announcers, but they still annoying.

Turn on and hear them propping on Brandon Ingram like hes the best player and he only been there 6 games, plus they wanna say every foul is not a foul when its clear they fouls. Shit just annoyin to me

Let’s be honest.

If Dirk WAS asked to do that, there is a mountain of circumstantial evidence that suggests his ability to do so would be far inferior to Luka’s ability in that area - and Luka is in the infancy of his career.

Let’s not nullify or dismiss that distinction as a random aberration due to the era they played in.

Oh hell no. I wouldn’t say that either. That’s serious hyperbole.

We have no disagreement there.

This is pretty much my argument. And I concede all of the caveats you have laid out.

I just want to distinguish my hot take from other hot takes invoking extreme hyperbole.

I guess. They are one of my favs. They are the Pelicans announcers, i expect them to do those things that u are finding annoying. Maybe i have low standards, lol.

Its probably cause im so used to watching the Knicks and other NY broadcasts and im used to hearing team announcers criticize the fuck out my team. Got me wanting to never hear an announcer say anything positive about their team.

One of these pelicans mfers said he still wasnt over the toronto loss, almost had mute the shit.
