i would say a good 30 games is a decent sample size to project, but even then, depending on the record, you just never know how things might shape up

injuries will happen and force teams to make adjustments

put it like this, there are some very good teams through 5 or so games, and there are def some fugazi teams that will eventually fall back to earth. Not saying they wont be good overall, but i think they will be closer to the rule and not the exception
