Official 2019-2020 NBA Thread

If you are going to take a stand go all the way. Sacrifices have to be made in the present; for the future and or following generations that will come after. Yes these dudes (probably many of them) live check to check unless you're a superstar but thats where a plan of how to sustain financially & support one another has to be constructed. You go for what these owners really care about and thats their bottom line: the money. This is a capitalist society, if you aren't playing these owners are not making the revenue and getting their pockets fatter and living divinely. You have to hit them where it hurts and boycotting with the potential to go even further would have been revolutionary. But these dudes from all accounts had no plan in mind and now we are here because they feel like playing and speaking out will bring more awareness. It isn't going to bring anything more than what they've already been doing.

All this is easy to say from where you at. Without actually knowing what was said in those meetings.

And I know most of us ain't doing or planning to do shit about what's going on but post on this board.

Lie to me.

Besides the fact we don’t know what’s being said at these meetings....You don’t know what I’ve done or do offline & the kind of work I do within my community. So that’s where I’ll leave this discussion. No need for petty remarks.

Hearing a whole lot of talk about how the Milwaukee players took everybody by surprise by boycotting yesterday's game.

Think there's a little bit more to the story though.

My theory, and it's just a theory, is that the Bucks players caught wind that the Clippers and Lakers were going to boycott............AFTER ...........the Bucks and Magic already played their game.

Making the Bucks look bad in the process by not doing it first since the Blake shooting happened in their state...........and also giving Lebron all the credit for the players boycotting.

Basically, the Bucks saw how they were about to get set up for the okeydoke.........

and got the jump on the other teams instead by not falling for it.

It was already being discussed by other teams. Everyone knew that. But the play seemed to be to take the couple days to finish out the first round and collectively mobilize a boycott. Milwaukee (although they didn't need permission) fucked that up. They weren't collectively able to plan the shit out and there was division. Can't start out something this big like that. Everyone should have been on the same page. There should have been a plan of action instead of just movements off emotions.

Nah it’s a step in the right direction to show what can happen in the future
So are they gonna boycott maybe 3 days worth of games when another unarmed black man is shot/killed by police? Because you know it’s gonna happen again

Believe it or not both these points can be true.

Bettering the community, improving police n community relations, stopping voter suppression/red lining, improving healthcare, education reform, police reform, ending mass incarceration, marijuana reform etc

But this is still America. Bad shit will happen. But they can't say they didn't try and try to make this a better place

We ain't see this nigga the whole bubble and first round now he got his chest puffed out like this some kind of win.

Now he a activist in his spare time.

Get that shit outta here.
Not to step on what you’re saying but IIRC he does do some stuff out there in the streets for the cause

I’m not I’m just saying with everything pushed back Miami probably won’t play until Tuesday at the earliest

so I’m saying at the very least players can get extra time to heal if they were hurting

Porzingis gets a couple more days for that knee, Luka for the ankle, Pat Bev for the calf, etc.
