well, i think there are two basic principles

1) understanding the product, but not necessarily having to be a user of said product

2) understanding the demand for the product and how to make a profit

I know people like to smoke weed, I want to capitalize off it, but i might not be as knowledgeable about no. 1 and i dont think that's necessarily a bad thing.
