New Japan announces more 2018 U.S. dates
New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) is putting on the biggest show they’ve ever done in the United States tomorrow night when
G1 Special in San Francisco takes place in the 10,000+ seat Cow Palace.
That show hasn’t sold out (there were reports leading up to the event which said a lot of seats were still available). We’ll find out more about that when
G1 Specialis broadcast on AXS TV at 8PM Eastern on July 7, and reports from media and fans in attendance start coming in.
We know now that New Japan was encouraged enough to go forward with plans for more California shows this year.
At the press conference AXS and NJPW held this afternoon, New Japan President Harold Meij said the promotion will return to Long Beach’s Walter Pyramind (host of this spring’s
Strong Style Evolved event) for
Fighting Spirit Unleashed on Sept. 30.
New Japan will also run two specials with their “Young Lion” roster - essentially the cream of the developmental crop, wrestlers from their dojo system they’ve deemed ready to work in front of crowds - on Nov. 10 - 11 in Anaheim. Those dates will be branded
The Lion’s Break Project, and take place at
CharaExpo USA (a gaming convention being put on by NJPW parent company Bushiroad) at Anaheim Convention Center.
