All these songs are dope, but what exactly defines New Jack Swing as a subgenre because some of these songs don't really seem that similar. Like I don't see any similarities between Come and Talk to Me and My Boo.

Dezi Phillips (RIP) was a friend of the family. I knew him simply as Grover, his actual name. He was in a band with my uncle when they were young. I grew up seeing him and my uncle and the rest of the band performing in the early 80's. I remember talking to my uncle on the phone one day back in '09 and he told me "yeah man... Grover passed man. Had a seizure or something". Unc was all fucked up about it 'cause they had been boys for decades at that point. According to my uncle he was supposed to have been working on new music too.

It took forever for me to find these 'cause of the way my uncle pronounced his last name. I always though it was Phelps, not Phillips.
