New ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ Movie in the Works From Paramount

They added some interesting things to the later movies, but yeah, they made them too jokey. I wouldn't mind them going down that route again but with more horror and less humor. Freddy should have some jokes. I'm not saying he should be like Pinhead, but I don't want the movie to be a slapstick comedy.

Im okay with him being a wisecracking killer. In the franchise though it just got to a point where we were getting it with every freddy interaction. It seemed like Freddys jokes became so much of a focus at some point in the movies, that it makes the audience less afraid. When i watch horror I want to feel that anxiety when I know freddy is about to appear. I dont want to chuckle and think "Oh, that Freddy! Whats he going to come up with next?!"

I can appreciate a quick smart ass line before he murders that teenager once or twice though.
