Did a search but didn't see anything on this.. yall heard about this shit? If I'm following this correctly...

Cops go to arrest Woods on some drug shit... other dude in the crib ended up killing 3 cops...

BOTH were sentenced with the death penalty.

Folks have been making appeals to try to get Nathaniel Woods a stay of execution( his execution is set for today) since he didn't pull the trigger or kill anyone.

I thought he was with the person that killed the 3 officers. Just didn’t pull the trigger

He didn't kill anyone tho. The other dude that actually pulled the trigger said it on several occasions that Nate Woods had nothing to do with it.

Even Woods' co-defendant, Kerry Spencer, who has confessed to being the triggerman and denies Woods was complicit, implored for his execution to be stopped.

"Nathaniel Woods is 100% innocent," Spencer, who remains on death row, wrote in an open letter. "I know that to be a fact because I'm the person that shot and killed all three of the officers that Nathaniel was subsequently charged and convicted of murdering. Nathaniel Woods doesn't even deserve to be incarcerated, much less executed."

Officers were sent to the home to serve a misdemeanor warrant, but prosecutors said Woods, who was 27 at the time, set up an ambush that allowed Spencer to shoot at them multiple times.

Spencer admitted to shooting the officers, but said it was in self-defense because the officers were assaulting Woods, an assertion that the judge did not permit at trial. Two of the officers who were killed were later accused by another drug dealer at Woods' home of being involved in a corrupt scheme that protected dealers in exchange for money. The Birmingham police declined to comment on the allegation.

I don’t know the story.

I just know he was with dude that killed them. Did he know what he was going to do.

I just made a statement

Dude that actually pulled the trigger(Spencer) said there was no way Woods could have known he was going to shoot those cops.. he said he didn't even know he was going to do it himself in that moment.

this is why ppl have to start getting involved with local activist and joining organizations that push for social change. im sure organizers in alabama have been pushing for him to be released or granted a new trial for years

this became national news a day or two before his execution. smh a community failure

Can we at least agree that if the community was able to apply more POLITICAL PRESSURE to the governor... like the threat/possibility of getting her the fuck outa there by way of votes....in conjunction with local activism might have helped the situation?

Clearly.. and sadly local activism & appeals on social media didn't do the trick this time around... and if folks don't go out and vote.. chances are if the governor doesn't step down come the next cycle... she's likely to remain in office where she will be able to be in a position to do some bullshit like this again.

who’s to say they havent been pleading with the governor? how long has this man been locked up? and how many governors have came and went during his incarceration?

the sys in itself is vile, however you get enough ppl talking and demanding change and you begin to see a shift.

if this had been national news months before and folxs backed organizers and demanded his execution be stayed, we might have seen a difference.

voting to me can be detrimental in many ways when the ppl you vote in never have your interest in mind and tbh politicians that may have good ideas starting out, always get swindled by money and fall victim to corruption and dirty political tactics. they all have a price.

plus im completely disgusted by whats happening in alabama on a judicial level. why hasnt anyone on a national level overhauled their prison/policing sys? its a cesspool of human rights violations.

prisoners tied to buckets for days on end and forced to defecate in them. this too wasnt national news until activist started talking about it on twitter forcing some level of government intervention.
