Wild take I know but I stand by it.

KD I and II are both just as good. Ain't a single track I skip. However sometimes less is more and not to be cliche but they really created magic here and effortlessly jumped in they pocket, which they should 3 albums in. So no shade to the KD series but Magic is really showing off how in sync they are. Eric B and Rahim comparison on KD III? Maybe....

I just think the concept of Magic was better done according to cats like us.

Like KD1 had a theme. It was about the other side of success. We always hear about how hard it is to succeed, but Nas flipped it and talked about yo slow down, work smarter not harder, cause that hard work will kill you just the same.

And then KD2 had this glamarous theme about life and was more autobiographical. It was on some aye this how im living at 45+, and take these jewels about how you can achieve this success too.

But then with Magic, the theme was 2 turntables and a mic. Shit was super minamilist, and it was on some make Nas' bars the main instrument on the song.

All the albums of fire, but people like us appreciate the minamilist shit when it comes to Nas. Like just get out the way and let my boy rhyme type shit.

Atleast thats how it is for me.

Thats why I already know that KD3 gon be fire, but Magic gon be my favorite shit

That’s why I deleted songs off KD2. I appreciate what Nas was trying to do and with some people them joints got off. But those kind of songs are not why I listen to Nas. I just want bars and storytelling over good beats.

I don’t want Nas to work with any other producer but Hit-Boy their Chemistry is unmatched. But I do think after KD3 he should call it quits album wise unless him and Hit Boy got a KD4 or another series of albums then this should be it. I Don’t think him and any other producer can have this type of chemistry and run and I want him to go out on top as he should. And If he does choose to do more music it should be another Lost Tapes or just a song here and there.

What?

Man nah.

Nas should continue to rhyme until his pen tells him its time

I’m not saying he should stop rapping I’m say we have been spoiled with KD, KD2, Magic and KD3 what other producer can work with Nas and match this run? I Just don’t want him to work with somebody else and drop something mediocre because the beat or production wasn’t up to par. I like seeing Nas on top where he belongs this 2nd run by him has been nothing but amazing and I don’t want nothing to ruin this that’s all I’m saying.

This album is more "press play" than both KDs

Damn. The greatest knock on Nas in the last 10 years has been that whether or not Magic is better than the KDs....

and if he shouldn't work with anyone not named Hit-Boy.

......but he can't hold his own vs. Jay tho.

Aight then.

This is so well written...I can dig it

KD, KD2, and KDTres, when it drops, is a complete body of work...a trilogy if you will

For me, Magic is its own work...an appreciation piece for the day ones, for the pure love and fun, of the craft, and so muhphuggers wouldn't forget who and what we're dealing with here. On some "don't get it twisted, I'm still *him*" type shit #nasislike

I'm still awestruck tho...how is it that an already incredible GOAT emcee, continues to become even greater??? Like, Nasir has never once rested on his laurels and still sounds like 'old school' Nas but fresh and shiny at the same time! I think Hit-Boy's younger energy inspires and excites Nas. Nas' lyricism, perspective, and willingness to let HB get his shit off helps him create in new ways. He had to grow up a little phuggin with NaS...his production has definitely matured. He's definitely a much better producer now, just being in Nas' presence.

This lp is like a stretched out version nas is like to me at times.
Verse 2 speechless.
Pick a down on his luck rapper, bet he broke
With the arrogance of a crackhead mad at a weed smoker
Or a pill taker who hate a distilled wine drinker
A killer who use a gun to hate on a knife swinger
Aight, I get it, it's who the littest, we in competition

Y'all did it first'll be the death, I got a proposition
You and your brothers stop plottin' on each other, plot on millions
.
