Morgan Freeman Unveils His 'Symphonic Blues Experience' Album
At 89, the Oscar winner turns his Mississippi memories into a symphonic blues journey with Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’ and more on a history-spanning LP.
Morgan Freeman is adding another title to a résumé that already includes Oscar winner, producer, and one of Hollywood’s most recognizable narrators. The 89-year-old actor has announced his first full-length music project, Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience, along with the release of its lead single, “Death Letter Blues,” featuring legendary blues musician Taj Mahal.
Set to arrive August 7, the 12-track album traces a century of blues history and includes appearances from Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Shemekia Copeland, Anthony Big A Sherrod, Lady Adrena, and the Chineke! Orchestra. According to Rolling Stone, a three-city tour will launch alongside the project, with stops scheduled in Houston, Memphis, and Gulfport, Mississippi.
