Netflix Monster: The Ed Gein Story

watched the first episode. Heard its getting mixed reviews and also review bombed, but I think its off to a good start. Charlie Hunnam is doing awesome as Ed. Plays a good soft spoken weirdo. Just based off the first episode you can almost feel bad for him, but this is before you get to see what a sick fuck he really was. Will watch the rest later.
 
Ed Gein really was a sick fuck. I’ve heard his name but never really looked into his story. I had no clue Psycho was based on him.

Wasnt necessarily based on him, but definitely parts of his story inspired the story of psycho. Also parts of his story inspired the texas chainsaw massacre and buffalo bill in silence of the lambs. More so how he made body suits of women's skin. Masks like Leatherface did.

Dude also made covers to his furniture out of skin. Lampshades out of skin. Bowls out of skulls. All kinds of shit. I've read he only was confirmed for a few murders but theres potentially more he was never convicted of, but did a lot of grave robbing and mutilation of the bodies.

This shit is dark as I expected. Got through episode 4 and had to turn it off for a bit.

I do like how they’re splicing in stories of how the movies based on his life were inspired and made.
 
Finally finished. Charlie Hunnan did his fucking thing in this! Can’t even tell it’s him.

It was hard to keep up with what was real or in his head. I think that was done intentionally and was a nice touch.

This was really a story about a perfect storm of mental illness and abuse and abandonment that led to some sick shit. Crazy he inspired all of those other killers and he didn’t even see himself like they did.

Shit really was dark and they portrayed the darkness brilliantly. Shit was hard to watch at times.

Funniest and at the same time craziest parts was when he took those kids to his house. Took the head off and then when he revealed himself he had the mask and hair of a dead woman on, lol. That didn’t happen in real life but jeez imagine the trauma that would do to a kid, lol.

Overall great series and Charlie needs to get recognized for playing the role.
 
What the entire fuck at the last episode Richard speck. Dope they did a mindhunter tribute, but what the entire fuck.
