Just more of the MCU never straight adapting the comics so they could be changing up part of Ravonna’s origin story.
It could be all part of the Ouroboros effect & history repeating itself. Her being a variant and their relationship could be playing out the same as Loki / Sylvie
 
I thought they said in season one that Sylvie was the only known variant of someone that was a different sex.

Also, didnt they see another version/variant of Ravonna when they went to that school?

If she was a variant of Kang she woulda known he wouldnt take kindly to that "partner" shit
 
I don’t remember them talking about syvlie specifically In that way, bout her being a different sex. They already went outta there way to show how variants can come In different forms like Gator Loki, Frog Thor and that lizard Kang.

And He Who Remains did say that the Kangs didn’t always beef with each other.

But yeh the variant of Ravonna as a school teacher does go against the Ravonna = Kang idea.
