That's the problem the original phase had the important elements:
Connection with the characters.
Risk & consequences

When Antman and his kid defeated Kang it was a wrap for this phase.

If Shang chi dies no one will care we haven't seen him for years.

Most of these points I agree with but lets not act like these movies had any real stakes before infinity war and end game

I was hoping they could fix that before his issues.. he was dope in Loki and the potential with there being so many different Kang variants they could have fixed that ant man shit. They still can if theyre willing to do it

He was already pretty unlikable in his sidekick role. Maybe making him that nigga with a solo film was a misstep especially when they didn't really lean into any of the training and shit he was doing in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV show.
