A Lyft driver in her third trimester of pregnancy was fatally stabbed by a passenger who then stole her car and drove it more than 140 miles away, said police in Tempe, Arizona.

Police said they were called to an apartment complex early Sunday morning where they discovered a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victim, 39-year-old Kristina Howato, had received a pickup request from a male passenger identified as Fabian Durazo, 20, near 600 South Perry Lane in Tempe, police said. Howato then drove Durazo to an apartment complex minutes away. There, police said, Durazo stabbed her with a knife while she was inside and outside the vehicle.

Durazo then stole Howato's 2005 Silver Mercury SUV, which was equipped with GPS, police said. He was located driving west of Quartzsite, Arizona, a town about 140 miles west of Tempe, police said. He was arrested there and booked in La Paz County Jail, and will be taken back to Maricopa County Jail, Tempe police said.

Howato was taken to a hospital, where she and her unborn child were pronounced dead. Police said Dorazo has admitted to stabbing her and taking her vehicle.

"This is definitely one of those incidents that is really going to affect the police department for a long time and the community will think about this for a long time," Tempe police spokesperson Sgt. Ronald Elcock said at a Monday press conference.

Durazo is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder, and one count each of theft of means of transportation, armed robbery and kidnapping, police said.

shut that bullshit down

its just not structured in a way thats good for the people or the city/state....anywhere

there's no inspections, no sales tax, and no way around shit like this.....which Lyft will not be held accountable for in the least bit

That may be true, but statistically it’s still been safer than taking a taxi

https://m.ranker.com/list/taxi-car-driver-serial-killers/jacob-shelton

cabs been around a whoooole lot longer = more history whether negative or positive

the thing is....the cab companies are typically held responsible for their employees

there was a kid here who got picked up and killed by a cab driver.....in the end, the company had to change their name and repaint all their cars a different color to remain in business....outside of whatever monetary damage was done

that and the fact that cab companies/drivers are literally city workers....there's fees and licenses and inspections that have to be done for the city, typically through the police department....theres a division specifically for watching cabs and making sure they're operating according to law

all this makes it a much more open and honest business in my eyes, plus the city and state actually reap some of the benefits through all the fees and shit these ride share companies dont have to bother with

it can happen to anyone anywhere....im just hating on the rideshare business because they are a personal threat

let me bash

Wow she was driving for Lyft in her third trimester...sheesh

cab company would have sat her down, maybe dispatching at most

Lyft shouldn't be held responsible for this unless they knew this dude was violent and let him work anyway. You can't hold a company responsible for every crazy thing an employee does. Something like this could have happened with a bus driver, cab driver, or any other situation where a person was one on one with another. The fact is the world is full of crazy ass people.

i fixed the title

smh

dont be posting no click bait titles man
