Who do you think you are? I am
As a casual who used to be a die hard in the 90s. This trade makes absolute sense and is the type of trades that used to happen.
I feel like nowadays teams have a tendency to trade the same guys. Meaning, they trade a guy who does the same thing that the guy they are getting does.
Or they trade a guy to get another guy to do the same thing they already have a guy on the team that does it.
Its been a while where there was trade to fit the team and establish a direction of playstyle.
Kyrie and Luka was not going to work in regards to getting a championship. Their team was built to out class you on offense and during the regular season that works.
During the playoff where more intense defense and strategy is employed. Let Kyrie go off and force Luka to play D. By the fourth dude looked like he jumped into a pool, he’s sweating so bad.
And for LA, it’s obvious they need to establish a future and a play style and team for the future.
The Mavs have to get pass the nuggets, Houston and or the thunder in the western conference finals. They want to win now, they need a skilled big.
The Mavs have no longer content with being popular and notable and want to make a push to a championship, seeing what flawed them before and making a bold move.
And the Lakers are planning for the future. It makes absolute sense and used to be what trades were intend to do. Not just offload money and or bring in glue guys.
Or stars pass their prime and hope they got one or two left in the tank.
