I often hear people say rugby is more physical because in football they wear pads.
is this true?

while rugby can be physical.
i have rarely seen someone get blindsided by someone at top speed.
i hardly see rugby players reach a good speed.

i see them passing the ball down the line trying to find an opening...and when they find it...they try to plow throw with a few steps.

but with football.....try focusing on a long throw while in the crosshairs of a free or strong safety like Ronnie Lott.
i once seen christian okoye (the nigerian nightmare)get the shit knocked out of him by atwater.

I would actually say football based on the level of competition. The calibre of athlete you see on a football field is probably unparalleled by anything you see on a rugby field. No other sport has 200 lb receivers getting mucked by 350lb defensemen

Itā€™s pick ur poison. Any sport that invites collusion has serious risk. In football u get cte and in rugby u break ur back.

theyre really 2 different animals.

rugby is physical af, but theyre not necessarily gonna fly at you at full speed to hit you like they will in football. with that being said football is stop go stop go...whatre you playing for like 8 secs at a time. rugby is soccer running.

dudes get blindsided aaaaaaall the time in rugby, and again, no pads so sometimes a big hit is takin both of you out.

Didn't I also say European football? C'mon, nobody really believes that David Beckham can fuck with Michael Oher

wearing more pads doesnt make it less physical id say the style of rugby makes it more physically im no rugby expert but it seems like a scrum where everyone can get got.

Rugby is kinda stop and go and walk a bit when the ball is at an opposite end....
Everybody in football gotta be ready to move at top speed.

Padding reducing the physicality of football is a bit of a myth. It's true that it allows players to take bigger hits ,but it also allows players to deliver bigger hits so it balances out.

Football is more physical because it has more concentrated built up bursts of violence.

Rugby is more fluid....

It's like saying which death is more violent.... Being stabbed repeatedly for a few minutes then bleeding out..

Or being hit with a baseball bat ala casino till you stop moving.

I feel like the baseball bat kills you in less than 2 or 3 minutes....

Those stabs could take hours....

Wait.....

What were we talking about again??

Yea that's why rugby stresses proper form and tackling. Not that football doesn't, but the fact that you have no pads means that you can't be launching yourself head and shoulders into a nigga's sternum. Yall both gon die doing that shit. If you tackle someone correctly or get tackled by someone who tackles correctly, it hurts way less.

Signed,
A bitch that got a concussion from being tackled incorrectly.
