Which means more to you?
What are you first?

If you have a Jamaican grandmother, but both your parents are born in the States as you were, Are you American? Or part Jamaican? Are you a quarter Jamaican?

At what point are you black? Just black?

Is being black only being dark? Are their light skinned people who are only black?

While I know that answer...this has been something that always irked me.

Would I still be black if I was born in Germany but lived in the States?

If I was raised by my adopted southern white family but born in Japan to black parents....am I American, black or Japanese?

Why do people make this shit so hard?

How is it that more white people are accepted being native American than black Americans...with no question. Especially when white people bought their way into claiming native. Look up the $5 Indian. Yet, black Americans claim it because they have good hair.

Tribe, nation, continent are for some Africans. But not all.

But why must people be everything but just black.

There was a post that someone said he only saw 1 black dude....but the gang were all were Dominican. Or should I say assumed Dominican.

So was the one guy black because he was dark and they are still are something else?

I'm curious how y'all see things.

I'mma just pull this one out: The problem is every other bruh claim they "got some indian" in 'em to the point where it's ridiculous. The only reason many even care is because it sets you apart from everyone else, especially when you have "good hair". Most can't name their tribe, have no Federal roll number, or anything; they just know they got it in their ancestry somewhere.

When White folks find out they have Native heritage they tend to deep dive into it, learn the culture and really make an effort to assimilate it into their lives. They're proud of their Native blood even if it's a minuscule amount. It's more than something that sets their appearance from other whites apart.

You either Black, white, Chinese, or Mexican. Those are your options, anything else you claim is some made up shit.

lmao man let mf's be carribean dutch if they wanna be

EDIT: no shit, i had no idea that was really a thing.....it just sounded funny together...carry on

This is very American thinking, but I thinking race is before culture here. The rest of the world for the most part goes nationality first. You talk to Caribbeans and above all they are where they are from first then culture and race.
I would have said national but my America ain't White America

My culture tho.....ain't no separation there

Cs..
I got a bunch of friends from Brasil, and over there they have all kinds of beef based on what part theyre from...come here and it's "Brasileiro?"....best friends.

For me, I'm black and grew up in hawaii. Culturally, I'm used to hawaiian/local/as an culture. Continent isnt really a thing to me, I barely like going to that mf as it is lol...and nationally, I guess I have to be murican...

So I guess its race, culture, nation, continent

being black is an American thing because being African or a specific nation is Africa is a totally different thing.

So by saying you’re black your basically saying you’re American.
