7.5/10.
Someone dropped the ball here.
Cole got flow, can spit a mean verse, and can now put some songs together. I think we can agree on this.
However, presentation counts, and this didn’t make good on all the potential it COULD have.
Here me out: 7 Minute Drill didn’t have to be made, or could’ve been released separately, especially since Cole was admitting he’s taking it light on Kendrick.
What SHOULD’VE happened to as this: put Aubrey on “Fever” since that track is more his vibe than Cole’s. Let Aubrey have a 16-bar go, with a subtle shot or two in there. Then call this whole album “2/3 of a Brick” or “66%,” using that line “2/3 of a brick, Pinero and Kiss” by Jada and Styles P as a sample somewhere.
That sends a better message. And the album title doesn’t make Cole seem scared. “Might Delete Later” sounds like Cole out here pump faking, only keeping it out there based on how the people receive it, instead of just saying it with his chest.
In any event:
Lyricism - 9/10
Production 8/10
Cohesiveness - 7/10
Replay Value - 5/10
There’s dope shit in here. Crocodile Tearz, Ready ‘24, and Pi stand out. The Trae the Truth track could’ve been left off. Stealth Mode is him trying new lanes, but that could’ve had one of his Dreamville peoples on it. However, there was potential for this to hit much harder than it will.
Kendrick won Round 1
K-Dot>>Aubrey>>>>>>>Jermaine right now.
He was better off not saying anything.
