Fear in kids is easier to manipulate. Easier to turn into their fears. Adults are more complex and have more resources to defend themselves. It is just easier to go after kids.

I don’t know, but the movies take place in the 80’s, so parents weren’t really watching their kids that closely, lol.

Maybe it was just picking and choosing who can see. Cuz in the flashback the natives surely werent all kids and they were aware of it and can see it. Plus Hallorann has seen it as well

Part of his injury was the part of his brain that acknowledges fear is damaged. That's the reason they wanted him for the "mission".Assuming it'll make him immune to pennywises manipulation/ influence
