So I went through 2 interviews for a help desk job down here in south Florida at the hard rock and now they want me to go there for a technical interview. I’ve never done one for an IT before. I’m pretty sure someone here has. What is it about?
The Hard Rock down there in Ft Laureldale shouldn't be any different than what I've done up here in NJ. They will talk to get to know you and ask you some questions in regards to situations and how you would handle them.
From my experience as a Customer Service Representative for a Casino/Sportsbook, most of the questions would be geared towards:
- Fraud and Risk
- Payments
- Trouble customers
- Responsible Gaming
- Using Zendesk
- Talking to a customer through a problem
- How, when, and where to transfer to different departments
- Unlocking Customers' account
And so forth and so on. If you have never worked IT help desk, these are some of the basics that you could google up.
I work for a TOP DFS/Sportsbook platform and the skills I've learned in my previous job transfer beautifully.
Better brush up on networking and basic computer trouble shooting.
They are gonna ask you shit like, "How do you connect a printer?" and "What's HTTPS?"
So they gave me the technical test on paper. I didn’t do well at all and didn’t get the job. I told the head IT guy at my current job some of the questions and he told me that some of these questions were nowhere near what a tier 1 help desk should know. Some of the questions were about what 5 ways a VPN works and what are the following issues with this printer. Smh
I also blame the recruiter because this was the job description she sent me:
Level 1 Help Desk – UDT – 12 month contract in Davie, FL
The position deals with user provisioning, Active Directory set up, Password Resets, Should be familiar with Multi-factor authentication apps, Info Sec exp a plus.
1. Two 8hr shifts starting at 8 and 10am. One year engagement.
Honestly don't worry about these positions. If they provide a written test unannounced like that for a low level position, it says alot about their organization.
I would look into the hidden market videos and get more insight from someone inside. That way you are made prepared.
The ones I posted aboveWhich one??

I'm thinking about doing a side job but I don't know where to start. I'm thinking something that's 100% remote for sure. I work full time for the city. I'm a Network Analyst.
I'm in a lot of meetings but I have enough time and skills to do some side shit while I'm at work.
