If your mom is black...

Depends on skin color.

If the kid has dark skin he will be treated as black by any cop who pulls him over, im every interview, by every loan giver etc regardless of what either parent is.
 
Biracial...black and whatever the father is.

Society will treat him/her however he/she looks/acts though.

How he/she embraces either side depends on his/her household and environment.

That's what I mean tho.

That sentiment has racist origins learned through slavery. All the "mixed" black folks was still slaves, but their fathers were white. And they weren't ever considered white because their mothers were black.

But the most ancient civilisations traced their lineage paternally. It wasnt until until colonialism that skin color began to trump lineage in a way.
 
guess it depends on where you are but I believe the one drop rule is still in effect

my kids will mostly identify as black, and I've told the wife this

their white family and friends may love them or whatever, but they will not be regarded the same when it comes down to it

they'll really know once they get in school

all the mixed kids in my neighborhoods were black.....even knew one nicknamed white boy because he was so light....he was a nigga tho

In some American Indian traditions you are whatever clan your mother is.
 
It seems like the consensus is whatever your culture dictates, for instance in Brazil where the 2nd largest population of blacks reside if you have one drop of white blood you're considered white

If a child has parents of different races they are mixed not either or.

It doesn't matter how the world treats them they will always and forever be mixed.

Obama is and will forever be mixed.
