That's why they had that scene where both her and daughter were at opposite sides of the glass looking at each other. Another sign that they were akin to one another.

The part where daughter says she should go back for the brother, and swank says she should only be concerned for herself. Then daugher goes back and pleads for mother to let her raise the child in captivity. Was the ultimate definition of selflessness. Thus making her the perfect human to lead the new age.

With that ultimately proven as the final test, she could now eliminate swank, which she does..
