There has been a ton of turnover in President
Donald Trump‘s White House. But this one may be the most shocking resignation yet.
According to
The New York Times,
White House Communications Director Hope Hicks is set to resign her post.
The
Times reports that Hicks has been considering leaving the White House for months. Her testimony before the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday appears to have been the final straw.
White House Press Secretary
Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed the news and the White House
released a statement from the president (via NBC’s
Hallie Jackson.)
“Hope is outstanding and has done great work for the last three years,” Trump said. “She is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person. I will miss having her by my side but when she approached me about pursuing other opportunities, I totally understood. I am sure we will work together again in the future.”
Hicks
also issued a statement (via NBC’s
Kelly O’Donnell).
“There are no words to adequately express my gratitude to President Trump,” Hicks said. “I wish the President and his administration the very best as he continues to lead our country.”
