I actually remember walking into my older brothers room, he must had been early 20s maybe 18yr-19yr at the time and the music video was playing, hes not even really into hip hop but the song was huge and I was hooked on it...
Though it wasnt into I bought my first CD single Coolio's 'Gangsta's Paradise' in 1995 that I became an 'official' hip hop fan, thankfully the single had 3 songs on there: Gangsta's Paradise, Fantastic Voyage, and Mamma Im In Love With A Gangsta... All fire songs that I played to death, both in my parents car and at home...
Then I got a gift voucher for my birthday that I used to buy Will Smith's 'Big Willie Style' which again was played 24/7... So those were my first two favourite rappers from 1995-1998... As both Coollio and Will had loads of hits around that time, like 'I'll See U When You Get There' and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air etc too...
Then went one day, I went round one of my day one, best friends house... And his mothers then boyfriend was a DJ and he gave my friend Tupac's 'Changes' on CD single, so this must had been 1998 and it was a wrap... We played that track back to back all day and all night...
The next day I begged my ma dukes to buy it for me, eventually she did and since then Pac been the GOAT for me... Soon after I got his 'Greatest Hits' and became a stan...
