Guns in America

1st clarification: No beat cop has or has access to weapons of war with the lone exception of snipers. If you're talking about AR15's, they've never been used in a single war by any country on earth, full stop. They're not "weapons of war". The exception is going to be SWAT, who likely DOES have actual "weapons of war" like MP5's, UMP's, P90's, M4/M4A1's, etc. Cops in many agencies DO keep an AR15 in their patrol vehicle in the same way that they used to keep a shottie for those "just in case" moments but those are semi-auto and, thus, are not weapons of war. Also, the majority of gun owners in this country are not "gun enthusiasts" by any stretch of the imagination and there's extensive, non-partisan polling to prove that.

Now...

When you get robbed, is there a cop on hand to stop it or protect you? No.
If someone breaks into your crib, is there a cop on hand to stop it or deal with the intruders? No.

Police in this day and age are purely reactionary. The only time they can somewhat prevent crime is by their constant presence i.e. frequent neighborhood patrols, which they largely don't do anymore. This means you're gonna get robbed, your house is gonna get broken into, someone might get raped, etc unless you have a firearm or some other means of self defense and if you do have a gun on you, why shouldn't it be the same type and have the same capacity that a cop uses to stop those very same criminals?

The average cop in this country carries a Glock 17 or a 19 with a 17 round mag or 15 in the case of a G19 and the AR's they use have standard 30rd mags. Why limit the citizens from having that for their defense as well?

Also, you're limiting this to "home defense", ignoring that the majority of incidents where someone would use a firearm occur outside of the home. Likewise, most rifles that shoot "high power" calibers are hunting rifles. The .223/5.56 cart that the average AR shoots is a medium power, intermediate round, not a high powered round like the .308, .350 Legend, .30-06, .300 winmag, etc and is unsuitable for anything other than dispatching coyote, wolves, or similar sized animals.

I think you need to go back and watch the video. The woman wasn't asking why the guy needed a run of the mill AR. She was asking why he needed all the over-the-top stuff. Go look at Colion's video about needing an FRT and take in the mental gymnastics he uses to justify needing one. It was like "Hey, there was this one time I thought three guys were trying to rob me and in my head I wished I had a gun with an FRT so I could let loose and then get away. That's why you need an FRT." It's like, but you're still here, so clearly you didn't need an FRT. That's the issue here. You don't really need any of that stuff. Like you yourself just pointed out, even the cops don't need it. They only need the big stuff when they are going on big time missions. So, Colion's argument that the average citizen should have all of that because the cops have it is silly.

Got the call while I was at the office: The LTP is ready for pickup. I'mma swing by the sheriff's office on the way to work in the morning and pick up the TX22 tomorrow after I get off.

Yeah, so that ain't happen the way it was supposed to. Went to go pick up the TX22 and couldn't. There was a problem with my middle initial where the electronic 4473 I filled out wasn't getting pulled over to their FBI program properly and I had to wait until the shit got fixed. Got the call to swing by last Friday but made it today.

Had a couple more issues but nothing that wasn't rectified on the spot, so they decided to give me 10% off the total and slid me three cards, each good for 1hr of free range time for my troubles.

I still ain't got mine to the range yet along with 2 other guns. They're just sitting in the safe... smh

It happens that way. It took me months before taking my PMR30 out to the range after I copped.

I fucked around and forgot to buy a new case for the Taurus, but I think I'mma grab a larger case that I can fit both of my .22LR joint in.

It doesn't help that all the ranges out here are 30 mins away either. I might say fuck it and let something off on the 4th and try to blend it in with the fireworks

Same here. I realized that's why I haven't been going like I used to. The two closest to me is Range USA and Downriver Guns, both of which are about 20 minutes away. Range don't like to do anything less than an hour for range time versus Downriver, which will do 30 minutes for fairly cheap. The problem for me is that I got used to being able to drive 8-10 minutes to Discount Firearms in Vegas and pay $8 per 30 minutes of range time so if I just needed to blow off some steam and let some rounds fly, it was close by and cheap as shit to do it.
