Goat Rap One Hit Wonder Nomination Thread

Rules: The song has to be the only song to ever reach the Billboard Hot 100 by the artist.

This is not a good criterion.

Even if Nice & Smooth only had one song to reach the Billboard Hot 100, they were a well known group with a ton of a fans back in the day. Same with Lords of the Undergound, to a slightly lesser extent.

It's like this. If you are old enough and into hip hop at the time, you would know immediately that any criteria that would place Nice & Smooth on a one-hit wonder list are shit.

How could Nice & Smooth be a one-hit wonder when they were a fairly big group in hip hop back in the day?

Fuck a Billboard hit.

These dudes did not just appear on the scene and the disappear as some others.

Ok, this just blew my fuckin mind...

^^^ This was their ONLY Top100 single ever, which is crazy as hell.

I would give you a 1000 wacks for this if I could.

If this doesn't prove that the billboard 100 measure of 'one-hit wonder' is dumb I don't know what would.

Y'all driving me crazy now.

FUCK outta here.

Kid & Play ain't no one hit wonder.

I looked each one up that I posted: Kid N Play had ONE song that made the Hot 100. They had joints that landed on different charts, but only one song made the Hot 100: "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody".

It's really easy to google them shits like I did.

It's a measure of how widespread the music made it into the mainstream. Personally Rakim is The God MC and greatest MC of all time as far as I'm concerned and he got tracks for days that should be revered as classics, but only one of his joints has ever made the Hot 100.

If I can recall correctly, this is a one-hit wonder from way back.

Did it make the Billboard top 100?

Doubt it, and it doesn't matter.

Again, the criterion put forward by the O/P is not a good one.

And some of the y'all ain't no youngin. Y'all should know better.

Nope, it didn't make it.

What's Up Doc and Breakdown did hit the Hot 100.
