Three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas drew criticism on social media Friday after saying women should "dress modestly and be classy" in response to claims by Aly Raisman that a former USA Gymnastics team doctor sexually abused her.

Douglas posted the since-deleted tweet on Friday afternoon after Raisman detailed some of the reaction to her accusations against Dr. Larry Nasser.

"Just to be clear," Raisman posted on Friday. "Just because a woman does a sexy photoshoot or wears a sexy outfit does not give a man the right to shame her or not believe her when she comes forward about sexual abuse."

Raisman told CBS' "60 Minutes" this past Sunday that she was 15 when she was first treated by Nasser, who is now awaiting sentencing in a Michigan prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.

After Raisman's tweet, Douglas responded "however [sic] it is our responsibility as women to dress modestly and be classy. dressing [sic] in a provocative/sexual way entices the wrong crowd."

That drew a response from Simone Biles, who set the gymnastics world alight by winning four gold medals at last year's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

"Honestly seeing this brings me to tears [because] as your teammate I expected more from you & to support her," Biles wrote. "I support you Aly & all the other women out there."

Biles added that Douglas' comment "shocks me ... but it doesn't surprise me."

Douglas posted a new message saying she "didn't correctly word" her reply to Raisman.

"[R]egardless of what you wear, abuse under any circumstance is never acceptable. am WITH you," said Douglas, who concluded her post with the "#MeToo" hashtag.

Yes....yes was lying

A man can and will sexualize the fuck outta female, regardless of what she wears.

Depending on her definition of modesty and classy I’d say she was dead wrong

So you wouldn't think anything different about a chick who dressed like this

She is wrong tho. Niggas that violate will violate no matter what she got on. Muslim women stay modest but they are often victims of sex crimes. And you gotta have your teamate back. But Gabby got fried both times in the Olympics soley for her hair so im soft on her.

But clothes or lack therof aint got nothing to do with sex crimes.

She not ‘dressed’ tho. See, weather, location, and purpose such said event.

There’s a difference between dressing provocatively and being naked and you know it.

Based off your definition of modest and classy we can then debate what’s appropriate and what isn’t

However, her statement without any other additives is wrong. Regardless of how a women dresses, it can entice the wrong crowd

She didn't say anything about sex crimes in her statment

To YOU she's not dressed, but that's what she WORE. So yes, how someone dresses changes the perception about them.

She retweeted her girl who spoke on her abuse by a us gym teacher. It was the wrong time to say anytjing that wasnt supportive. People need to be smart and this wasnt.

So what? You perceive her to be a whore but she not. Now what?

And Gabby response is directly related to sex crimes and woman being harassed b based off what she wearing. Her stance *and now your stance* is that if they were dressed modestly and classy they wouldn’t be harassas or abused by ‘the wrong crowd’ and that’s wrong. Period

Rape and sexual abuse is one thing.....

But let's not act like clothes mean nothing.

My son's principal wears mad tight clothes,, skirts, boots to her knees..like every day. She look like she going to happy our or a social gathering..not work...and definitely not administrative.

And as a result she doesn't generate the same kinda respect from students, staff or parents that more professionally dressed women receive.

Again my wife has larger breasts, thicker legs, and wider hips than this woman. My wife is also in an administrative role with people's children. And my wife finds a way to go to work where attention isn't being drawn to her curves and overall woman sexuality.

Chicks who dress like they tryna fuck gonna get tried more often than those who dress like they tryna work

.....that’s great, really great man.....

Do y’all purposely talk around what the author of these statements mean or....what?

wtf u mean so what? lol that's the topic of conversation.

How you're perceived is how you get treated, period. Nobody including gabi is saying it's ok to rape mfs, ofc you faux outrage niggas are gonna make that the narrative.

Nigga! The topic she chose to stand on directly relates to being sexually abused or harrassed because of what a person is wearing

Stop trying to tip toe past what she responded to b. That’s the topic of discussion. Which is why she back tracked and apologized

You wanna make a general thread about perception, cool. This ain’t it tho

You're deflecting again b.

I said her comment was right. The way you dress draws a certain crowd and attention, that's a fact. Idgaf what she was responding to, but that statement, was 100% true.

Gabby should have just kept her mouth closed. "It's our responsibility as women to dress modestly and classy"?? Modest and classy by whose standards tho? Whose responsibility is it to use some common sense and keep your damn hands to yourself?
If a woman wears something form-fitting or low cut is she dressing provocatively?

Is this chick dressed modest and classy? Is she enticing the wrong crowd as well?
This girl is perfect as she is but let's say you add larger boobs and a bigger ass and this modest/classy attire will be provocative to some just because of her shape.

That’s not what she said, that’s how you choosing to encompass and interpret what she truly said
