It was rumored from the start it would be Gunther. So I ain’t that mad at it… but at 38 years old, I don’t think he needs it.

I stand by my opinion that Oba Femi should’ve been in the tourney from the beginning. He shouldve been the guy who ran through everyone to get to Cena.

Cena buried the NXT Nexus group.

Cena could’ve given back that fuck up by putting Oba over. It would’ve been a GREAT way to introduce him to the main roster and then retire Cena. At 27 years old, it would’ve made sense to put a younger talent over in that fashion.

Oba v Gunther in the finals would’ve slapped.

Initially I thought for sure Cena was beating Gunther. Had he never lost to Brock & wasnt forced into an IC title angle with Dom where he ended up losing, the idea of him losing to Gunther woulda been just another L. But after this match with LA Knight, they gotta have Gunther make Cena tap! Gunther being the only person to make Cena tap would be perfect.
 
They fucked up trying to drag out the mystery man identity for a whole week. I feel like that shit has lost hella steam already.
 
Cena could lose to Gunther and it will not effect him at all. Vets losing their final matches is damn near Pro-wrestling Retirement 101.

Its about puttin over the talent they deem as the ones who "got next". Or the ones credit they wanna solidify. Passing the torch. Gunther is him.

Gunther winning benefits Gunther, more than Cena winning. Its essentially makes Gunther a made man. Cena does not need this win at all. His legacy is set in stone.
 
I forget who said it in here but I like the fact iija caught the replay of the finish & saw Ciampa interfered. It would be in his character to be pissed that he didn’t win clean.

Aye man cut the shit and make that US title match a triple threat with Melo He’s easily the hottest act amongst himself, Iija, and Ciampa. And the crowd is taking to him more and more it’s gonna get to the point where it’s undeniable

Tama been salivating for his chance. They keep building up what appears to be the inevitable.
 
Trish won the title in her final match. I could see Cena losing if he was facing a young up and comer but he facing a close to 40 year old guy.

Gunter beating Cena gives him all the swag he lost after tapping to Jey. And unless he is moved to Smackdown afterwards I don’t see them putting Gunther in any main event angles. So beating Cena & making him tap in his last match does a lot for him.
