For The Right $, Could You Be An Attorney For A Murderer?

to me.. it boils down to - if you KNOW without a doubt that they fuckin guilty are you still willing to represent and defend that person. For me, it has to be a specific set of circumstances for me to feel ok doing that

its a slippery slope for sure and I am legit biased on the cases I would take lol

id prolly be a terrible lawyer all things considered but id be tryna get some justice
Ohhhhhh you would rather be a broke and failed lawyer and not send niggas in Trinidad money lol

My fault I didn’t see these posts

Fair question.

for me It still boils down to like I said earlier..

Was the person that was murdered an abuser or a rapist or someone harming the innocent? Someone who escaped actual justice? damn.. 🤔 I could see a world where I could try to make a case legally to defend some things depending on the situation.. 😕

1. It’s not possible to be an attorney for a murderer. ‘Murder’ is a legal term. There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. So you’re representing an innocent person who is accused of murder.

2. This is like a secret service agent refusing to protect the president cuz you find him and his actions reprehensible. Your job is to protect the office of the president, regardless of how you personally feel about him. Same thing with lawyers, your job is to uphold the legal system, which states that everybody is entitled to a legal defense.

The government has UNLIMITED resources to put someone in jail. It being in the constitution that everyone is entitled to a legal defense is how the scales are balanced. It’s really a safeguard against the government locking up whoever they want for however long they want.

The system ain’t perfect. But as a lawyer, your job is to uphold the constitution and whatever state laws exist. Not to inject your personal biases into the shit.

If you wanna refuse to provide the legal representation to a person that they are legally entitled to, then choose some other area of law rather than legal defense.
