IIRC from what I read, this season is about black and italian mobs exchanging kids to make peace. The white kid the black mob is watching either gets injured or killed somehow and war breaks out.

Oh. Well the movie is a black comedy about this square ass dude in north dakota who gets caught up in a fraud situation and needs money, so he hires these ppl to kidnap his wife so her parents will pay the ransom. Everybody involved is dumb af (really small town, ppl dont know any better) so the wife ends up dead and there's all kinda hijinks while they try to cover it up.
The first season of the show is a reimagining of the movie. The seasons after that follow the premise of weird crime shit happening in random small towns.
Not really. It just continues the theme of small town crimes that spin out of control.
