I can agree with that sentiment. I wanted to like this film as much as I enjoyed Ford vs Ferrari or Gran Turismo, but compared to those two it was kinda weak. It lacked any spirit and seemed dependent on its star power. That's what I like about films featuring Christian Bale; the guy never appears to be phoning it in just because he's a star. I always feel like he adds a very authentic vibe to the story.
In contrast, as much as I like Brad Pitt, he does not have the same affect and it just feels like Brad Pitt playing a guy.
I still like F1, it just felt flat considering its predecessors in that same genre. Gone in 60 Seconds is wacky, but I'll rewatch that before I rewatch F1.
